January Newsletter

 January 2016

Canyon Dance Academy Newsletter    774-3937

Welcome Back!  Classes resumed on Monday January 4th.  Our classes run for 9 months and culminate in a show on May 28st.  We expect that all enrolled students will be continuing unless we hear differently.  We hope you had a nice holiday break.  We have a lot of new students starting in January, so we hope that all our current students will make you feel welcome!  Please check our website for information on our philosophy, schedule, dress code, teachers’ bios, and policies.  www.canyondance.org

We will be accepting new students in January.  Many classes are nearly full, but there are still a few spots in some of the classes.  Call the studio if you’re interested in adding a class and tell your friends.

The theme for the month of January is "Spatial awareness."   This continues the study of space on the floor, space around our body, and the space you occupy as a dancer.

The studio does NOT take most of the legal holidays off.  We will have class on MLK and President’s day.  We WILL be closed for Spring Break the week of March 14-18.

Snow Day Note:  We do not usually cancel on snow days.  The weather changes so quickly here that often, by the afternoon, it is clear and sunny.  Please use your own judgment when deciding to come to class when the weather is bad.

Studio Spring Performance!

Every student will have the opportunity to perform in the studio show May 28. Performers will be required to pay a performance fee and purchase a costume chosen by the instructors. Dancers may choose not to perform and still participate in classes. All dances will be learned during regular class time. We will have one dress rehearsal in the theater, detail TBA.

Costume deposits of $30 per class are due by January 28th.  Feel free to include them with your January tuition.   Your child will be measured in class for sizing.  The balance of the payment for costumes will be due in February.  We expect the total cost to be $40-$80/dance. Payment of your deposit insures that your dancer will be in the show. The date for the big annual performance is May 28th at the CHS auditorium.   The mandatory dress rehearsal is scheduled for Saturday morning of the show.  We will still do two shows, with younger children in just one or the other show.  The performance fee will be announced later.  The show includes free tickets for the dancers’ immediate family (parents and siblings only).  Additional tickets will be $7/adult, $4/child.  All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit our scholarship fund.  We will do PHOTOS in May as well. More info to follow. Please direct any questions to Miss Cori.
